Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing Locations across Bruce County
Cross country skiing and snowshoeing across Bruce County is perfect day out for family and friends together time. Here’s our two top favorite spots within a 15 min drive from our winter escape resort.
SAUBLE XC SKI CLUB
Sauble XC Ski Club has 18 kms of groomed cross country ski trails with an additional 13 km of snowshoe trails starting that all begin from a warm chalet. The experience is magical with a personal favourite forest trail that runs beside the Rankin River. Oh, and don’t get intimidated as there are trail systems that range from beginner to expert capabilities.
The chalet is open every weekend (weather permitting) all the way to march break every year offering free hot cider. Trail passes, maps and memberships can be purchased at the chalet, MacBeth’s Cafe & Bakery in Sauble Beach or Suntrail Outfitters in Hepworth.

SAWMILL NORDIC CENTRE
One of the best things about the Sawmill Nordic Centre is that it’s located in Hepworth, 5 min from Sun Trail Outtfitters where you can rent or buy any gear you need. The trails are well groomed and packed with fun rolling land within a hardwood and evergreen forest. They have 11 km of cross-country ski trails for both classic and skate skiing + 5km of snowshoe trails. If you’re new to cross country skiing or snowshoeing they have well marked beginner to advanced trails(easy, moderate or difficult). Preview their ski trails map here.
We have to mention the that they have a light up loop for cross-country skiing at night or early in the morning which is an experience onto itself to take home with you. They offer a heated ski hut that is open every day during daylight hours with a washroom right beside the easy to access parking lot.
